Show Notes & Links - 12 June, 2010

On one of the Motorcycle Radio Network shows a few weeks ago, Bill and Todd B got into a side discussion about motorcycles that changed the status quo and created a new state of the art.  Here we are a few weeks later and the offline discussion hasn’t stopped, so we decided to take the discussion live. Beginning as little more than an internal combustion engine bolted to a bicycle frame, motorcycles have evolved in spurts.  Along the way, certain benchmark motorcycles have changed the game.  Listen to the discussion this week as the Blockhead Boys unsurprisingly choose 5 totally different bikes each that had a tremendous impact on the design or construction of motorcycles over the years.  (Bill even throws a sixth one in that is historically significant to him, but we’re not certain as to whether that was a good thing for motorcycling or not…)  You can hear the podcast of the show about historically significant motorcycles here. You’ll also want to head over to UltimateMotorCycling.com to enter this year’s best contest.  We’re helping Honda give away everything you’ll need to go riding.  Picture yourself on a new 2010 Honda Stateline on Dunlop tires, wearing a new HJC Helmet, Tourmaster jacket and gloves and covered by a Western Services Contracts Extended Warrany.  Somebody is going to win this spectacular prize and YOU have just as good a chance as anyone.  Enter today! A special thanks this week goes out to the folks at Marbles Motors.  They specialize in restoring vintage motorcycles, and I swiped the picture of the SL70 Honda used above from their site.  Listen to the podcast of this week’s show and you’ll understand why Bill is going to drool when he sees this image! Next week we’re bringing Riding Man author Mark Gardiner back to go over the results of the TT over on the Isle of Man, as well as get us up to speed on a whole bunch of other happenings around the roadracing circuits, motocross courses and dirt tracks here in the USA.
